Dippin ‘ Dots (Ice cream of the Future!!)

In 1987, Curt Jones, a graduate from Southern Illinois University invented an ice cream snack called Dippin’ Dots. Dippin’ Dots are created by flash freezing ice cream mix in liquid nitrogen.

As you can see this ice cream is made from tiny balls or dots. It takes less than one second to freeze a dot.

 Fun Facts about Dippin’ Dots. 

  1. The temperature for the cryogenic freezing of the ice cream is 320 below zero.
  2. The freezer holds 12.5 billion dots at 40 degrees below zero. The whole room is practically covered with ice!
  3. Dippin’ Dots has travelled over seas to other countries such as Japan, Greece, and Russia

I ate this ice cream the first time at Colorado. I LOVED IT!
