The regular science nonfiction book these days are either mostly boring, old textbooks or a long biography that is hard to read. Radioactive is a one-of-a-kind book, in my opinion. I have never seen a book with such creative drawings that are beautifully crafted. However, watch out, some pictures can be distrubing at times.
Radioactive is the story of the love and fallout between Marie and Pierre Curie. Written by Lauren Redniss, this book was a finalist in the National Book Award of 2010. I believe that the caricatures and drawings really help convey the message of what the author has to say: the radioactivity between love and heartbreak.
Bonus feature: the book glows in the dark!
