Why I love Avocados (and you should too!)

Whether in a good guacamole dip or a healthy salad, avocados are a great addition to anything. Avocados are high in monounsaturated fat, which helps lower bad cholesterol (with moderation). You could even substitute unhealthy oils with avocado oil while cooking. Read on to learn more about avocados.

1. Avocados contain more potassium than bananas

Potassium is an important mineral that your body needs for your heart, kidneys, and other organs. Avocados are a high-potassium food with a 100-gram serving containing 14% RDA, and bananas containing 10%.

2. Avocados are loaded with fiber, which can help with weight loss

My favorite way to eat avocados is Avocado Toast!!

Avocados tend to be filled with plant fiber. In a 100-gram serving, avocados have 7 grams of fiber. Fiber has been linked to being a key player for weight loss and good metabolic health.

3. People who eat avocados seem to be healthier

According to an NHANES (National Health And Nutrition Examination Survey) study, people who consumed avocados regularly seemed to weigh less, have less belly fat, and a healthier BMI than those who didn’t.

4. Avocados can protect the eyes with powerful antioxidants

High in antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, avocados reduce the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration leading to eye health benefits in the future.
